Maria Island Photography Day Out

Private tour from Hobart. For self-drivers: option to meet in Triabunna.

A Snapshot of this Experience

Maria Island is a special place of spectacular natural beauty, intertwined with remnants of a convict and industrial past and abundant wildlife that roams free. Its mountainous landscape provides a striking backdrop to the forest and coastal habitats, with historic ruins telling tales of the island’s storied past and enhancing the natural beauty that surrounds them. Vibrant stripes and swirls decorate the sandstone at Painted Cliffs while ancient marine life is embedded in the prehistoric rock formation at Fossil Cliffs. You’ll delight in encounters with wombats, kangaroos and pademelons and possibly bandicoots and echidnas too. Birdlife is abundant and varied, featuring raptors, wattlebirds, cuckoos, magpies, rosellas, robins, honeyeaters, wrens, thornbills, shorebirds and many more. With plenty of time for photography, wildlife sightings and moments to fully absorb the island's beauty, we explore the island by walking at a leisurely pace for around 10-12 km (6-8 miles), less if you prefer (gentle undulating terrain, no steep inclines and plenty of rest stops). The local wombats may make it hard to leave Maria Island though you’ll leave the island after a memorable day filled with stunning photographs and unforgettable experiences. •◊•◊•◊•◊•◊•◊•◊•◊•◊•◊•◊•◊•◊•◊•◊•◊•◊•◊• MORE DETAILS and INFORMATION • This tour is privately guided for 1 to 4 participants.
