Becoming Nightwise
A gentle introduction to aurora photography • Tutorial and guided photo shoot for beginners

A Snapshot of this Experience
Begin your journey to becoming 'nightwise' – step into the quiet mystery of the night and learn to photograph its softest, most elusive lights. Designed for budding photographers, this workshop gently guides you through the essentials of photographing in low light and darkness, with a special focus on capturing the aurora if conditions allow. With calm, attentive support throughout the day and into the night, you’ll move beyond confusion and frustration and start photographing with growing confidence. You’ll leave with practical knowledge, creative spark and a sense of wonder that keeps drawing you back to the night sky. Even if the aurora doesn’t appear, you’ll gain skills that open the door to new photographic possibilities – because becoming nightwise is about presence, understanding and awareness, not just a single glowing moment. What to expect: ◊ Gentle explanations of key camera settings ◊ Guided experiments to explore how your camera responds to light ◊ An un-hurried, encouraging learning environment ◊ A twilight-to-night photo shoot to apply what you’ve learned (aurora guidance if conditions allow) ◊ Individual guidance within a supportive small group setting You’ll get the most from this experience if: You would like to feel more confident photographing in low light or still building your understanding of manual mode. Whether you’re starting out or have some experience but want to feel more in control, this workshop offers a calm space to deepen your skills. It’s especially for you if you: ◊ Feel unsure how shutter speed, aperture and ISO work together ◊ Want to move beyond trial and error ◊ Appreciate a gentle pace with space to ask questions ◊ Would love to photograph the aurora but don’t know where to begin If you already feel confident using manual settings and want to refine your creative technique, this workshop may not be the best fit. We can recommend options that better match your current skill level. 📷 IMPORTANT ⁉️ Does your camera allow full control over your settings? Wondering if it's up to the task? Not sure?
