Wildlife photography beyond the basics

Build on your existing photography knowledge and skills through guided wildlife photography practice

A Snapshot of this Experience

Build on your existing photography knowledge and skills while refining your approach to photographing wildlife in both natural habitats and a sanctuary environment. This small group, half-day experiential workshop is designed for photographers who already have a working understanding of their camera and want to consolidate their skills through guided practice and supported experimentation. Throughout the session, you’ll rehearse decision-making in real situations, with guidance as you adjust settings, respond to changing light, movement and behaviour, and develop a more intuitive and consistent approach to wildlife photography. The focus of the workshop is on practising and refining techniques that are particularly helpful when photographing wildlife. You’ll have time to slow down, ask questions and try different approaches, with gentle guidance to help you understand what’s working and why. Time spent moving around the sanctuary allows you to work in real-world conditions, giving you the opportunity to test ideas, learn through repetition and build confidence through experience. By the end of the workshop, you’ll leave with valuable hands-on practice, clearer decision-making and greater confidence in continuing to develop your wildlife photography beyond the basics. •◊•◊•◊•◊•◊•◊•◊•◊•◊•◊•◊•◊•◊•◊•◊•◊•◊•◊•◊• DURATION: 3.5 hours START TIME: 9.30am / FINISH TIME: 1.00pm WHAT'S INCLUDED • Photography instruction in a small group setting • Wildlife photography hints and tips booklet to take home • Light snacks and refreshments WHAT'S NOT INCLUDED • Transport to Bonorong • Admission into Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary - day or yearly pass is available as an add-on to your booking. This workshop is best suited to photographers who have a working understanding of their camera and the foundations of photography, particularly exposure and related settings. While these concepts will be referenced during the session, the workshop does not spend time explaining them in detail. The focus is on guided practice, rehearsal and refining your approach in wildlife photography scenarios. If you’re newer to photography or would benefit from a gentle introduction to camera settings and foundational concepts, our Wildlife photography for beginners workshop will be a better fit.
