A Snapshot of this Experience

Join us for a Photography Day Out on Tasmania’s stunning Maria Island, where forests and coastal habitats meet remnants of a convict and industrial past. Starting from Hobart, we'll travel to Triabunna to board the passenger ferry to Maria Island. Upon arrival at Darlington, a former convict settlement, you’ll be greeted by breathtaking scenery and abundant wildlife – perhaps, even, by a welcoming wombat! As we explore the island on foot, the scenery unfolds to reveal nature's beauty layer by layer. The mountainous landscape provides a striking backdrop the the forest and coastal environments while the historic ruins tell tales of the island’s storied past, enhancing the natural beauty that surrounds them. Then there's Painted Cliffs where vibrant hues have formed stripes and swirls in the sandstone, while Fossil Cliffs is full of embedded ancient marine life. Wildlife enthusiasts will enjoy encounters with wombats, kangaroos and pademelons, with possible sightings of bandicoots and echidnas too. Birdlife is abundant and varied, featuring raptors, wattlebirds, cuckoos, magpies, rosellas, robins, honeyeaters, wrens, thornbills, shorebirds and many more. Our relaxed pace ensures plenty of time for photography, wildlife sightings and moments to fully absorb the island's beauty. As we return to Darlington, the local wombats may make it hard to leave, but we’ll board the ferry back to mainland Tasmania and return to Hobart. This memorable day will be filled with stunning photographs and unforgettable experiences. Book now to capture the beauty of Maria Island's wildlife, birds and landscapes. –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– MORE DETAILS: • Duration: 11-12 hours • Departure: We leave Hobart at 6.30am to ensure a timely arrival in Triabunna to catch the first ferry to Maria Island.
